A Report on Inauguration of Electronics Club Activities 2016-17


The Inauguration of Electronics Club activities was held on Friday, 1 July 2016 in Campus View, Central Block, Christ University.

Dr. G N Dayananda, Chief Scientist and Head, Center for Societal Missions and Special Technologies, National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Bengaluru was the Chief Guest.

The programme started with a prayer song by the students from 1CME and 1PME, followed by the welcome speech by Prof. Mukund N N, Coordinator- Electronics Club activities 2016-17. He introduced the chief guest, Dr. Dayananda and gave an overview of the various activities organized by the Electronics Club to the audience.

Dr. Dayananda delivered inaugural address on a topic, “How is your weather today?- and its bearing on renewable energy”. He spoke on the following points; the relation between weather prediction and renewable energy sources, Renewables: context and basics, global installed power generation, global  regional solar, wind resources, prospects and challenges, utility of atmospheric sciences, data acquisition systems, high performance computing for good weather forecast. He concluded his speech with information on opportunities in renewable energy sector.

Prof. Benny Sebastian, Head, Dept of Electronics addressed the students and introduced the Executive Members of the Electronics Club for the year 2016-17. Student representative Ashwin S of 5 PME proposed vote of thanks.

The Dean of Science Dr. Nanjegowda N M, Dr. S Kulkarni, the faculty members Prof. Hamsa K S, Prof. Johnson O V from the Department of Electronics and about 350 students from B.Sc. PME and CME classes attended the inaugural function.

The inaugural function was anchored by Ms. Priya Yadav of V semester CME.
