Report on Career Guidance talk

 The department of Physics and Electronics organized a Career guidance talk as an initiative by the department IQAC for BSc and MSc students on 10 February 2024. It was a part of industry academia interaction to strengthen the curriculum and help students in their career progression.


 Dr. Mukund N Naragund introduced the speaker and delivered a welcome speech.

 The resource person was Mr. Sojan James, Acsia Technologies, Bengaluru. He spoke on a theme “the space for electronics education in today’s tech-driven world”. He initially spoke about the current trends in embedded systems especially in automotive electronics sector. With his vast industrial experience, he could share a lot of tips for the students to really do hands on projects with microcontrollers and related devices. In his second part of the talk, he explained about various domains where there is a need for manpower specially in the electric vehicle power management and sensor network fields that can be explored by the students after their graduation. He stressed upon learning at least one computer programming language to begin with in undergraduate studies itself.  Apart from theses industrial fields, he also encouraged students to get into the exciting world of HAM radio, RUST programming, he also assured his guidance to the interested students.

After his talk there was a very elaborate interaction during which students asked a lot of questions related to the subject as well as related to the higher studies, internships and jobs.  Mr. Sojan answered to all the queries with a lot of enthusiasm and a lively interaction.



A total of about 150+ students attended the session and the prime takeaway for the students from the resource person was not to depend too much on AI tools, rather to focus on building individual competencies in their chosen field or subjects and working with real electronic hardware components. Students enjoyed the session. It was a fruitful session with some insights into opportunities and challenges in the domain of practical electronics.
Ms. Aadika Gupta of final year BSc. PME proposed vote of thanks. Dr. Benny Sebastian, event coordinator presented a memento as a token of appreciation and gratitude to Mr. Sojan James. Dr. Manoj B, head of the department of Physics and Electronics and all the faculty members of the department were present during the session.
