REPORT ON FOREIGN FACULTY GUEST LECTURE BY DR LYNDA PARTRIDGE ORGAINZIED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF LIFE SCIENCES ON MARCH 1, 2019

              The department of Life Sciences had organized a foreign faculty guest lecture by Dr Lynda Partridge, Fellow of Royal Society of Biology, University of Sheffield, UK. The welcome address was delivered by Dr Sayantan, followed by introduction of the speaker by Ms Sumam Sara Sunil, a student of BSc CBZ, VI semester. This was followed by the delivery of the lecture by Dr Lynda Partridge. The title of her talk was “Non-stick skin” – anti-adhesive strategies as alternatives for antimicrobial therapy”. The talk mainly focused on food security, antibiotic resistance and healthy ageing. She also talked on the monoclonal antibody production. She also talked about the emergence of superbugs that pose threats to the environment. In addition to that she talked on the interaction between the host and pathogens like Neisseria and Staphylococcus aureus. The students actively engaged in query session after the talk.
