Report on the Industrial Visit conducted by Department of CSE - CUFE

Mysore has one of Infosys largest campus, rather the largest such facility in the world for Infosys. This sprawling campus located on the outskirts of Mysore city is said to be the “World’s Largest Corporate Training Center”, with capacity to accommodate 14,000 trainees at any time.
 
This campus is located around 8km (5 miles) northwest from Mysore City. The students started from Christ University Kengeri campus at 6:45 am and reached the Infosys Campus by 9:15 am. The students were guided by Mr. Christopher, the staff from the Accommodation department Infosys. 


As the students entered the campus, they were given a brief introduction about the Campus 
  • The Campus is mainly used for training new recruits. 
  •  The Campus spawns over a total area of 333 Acres. 
  •  The Campus has a total of 17000 trees and is capable of training and accommodating almost 14000 trainees at any time. 
  • Having over 3500 Cycles within the campus, there is practically a small city established within the Campus. Various facilities such as Gym, Swimming Pool, Game Room, Music Room, Multiplex Theatre (4 Screens), Super Market, etc were provided for the Trainees and Employees. Training period for IT Trainees is 6 months and BPO trainees are 45 days.
Then students were led into the massive Global Education Center within which the trainees were trained in the well-equipped Classrooms, each having a capacity to seat 200 Trainees at a time. This Global Education Center (GEC) was the second of its kind within the campus, i.e. there is another GEC named GEC-1 within the campus.

Within the GEC-2 there are classrooms and a Library, housing a collection of over 1 Lac books with almost 2500 new books/journals added every month.

After a brief snack students were asked to gather in the AV room and were shown a video clip of Infosys History.After the video session, the crowd were lead to a brief tour of the Campus where they were told about the various buildings such as the Origami Building – a building made on designs of the Japanese Paper Folding Technique, R&D labs, GEC-1, Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball courts etc.After a brief campus tour, the students were led to the Cafeteria, hosting a total of 7 Food Courts and after a hearty lunch, left Infosys Campus and returned to the college.
