REPORT ON THE INAUGURATION OF BIOTECHNOLOGY ASSOCIATION, 2014-15

The Biotechnology Association of the academic year 2013-14 was inaugurated on July 14, 2014. Prof. Anujith Kumar. K.V, scientist in Manipal Institute of Regenerative Medicine, the Guest speaker of the day. The faculty coordinator of the Association Prof. Vasantha V.L gave the welcome address. The dignitaries present during the function included Dean of Science Prof. Nanje Gowda and the Associate Dean of Science, Prof. Louis George.  

The office bearers - Prof Vasantha V L (Faculty Coordinator), Miss. Arthavya A of III yr BCB (President), Mr. Praveen Kumar Kasmas of III yr BCB (Vice President) and Miss. Aditi Kandlur of II yr BCZ (Secretary) took charge after the inauguration. This was followed by a talk on “GLIMPSES OF PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE OF PLEURIPOTENTCELLS” by the chief guest Prof. Anujith Kumar.              
 
The speaker could effectively connect with the student body as he spoke about the celebrities who have undergone tissue transplantation using stem cells. He also explained about the significance of the embryonic stem cells (ESCs) and their developmental background, methods of deriving them as well as the conditions to consider or declare them as ESCs. The talk enlightened the students about the various career opportunities and the future of the research field. This talk was concluded with an open forum for questions from the audience. The inauguration ceremony was then concluded by a vote of thanks delivered by the Secretary, Miss. Aditi. Kandlur.

Report on Annual Sports Day 2013 School of Education organized a one day Sports day for its students of B.Ed and MA Education on the 16 th of February 2013. Its objective was to develop in the students a sporting spirit, a venue to display their physical prowess and gain hands on experience of organizing a sports day at a school in future.   The day was scheduled to begin at 7:30am at the Christ University campus, where the students assembled near the auditorium block. Two buses were utilized to transport the students to the Christ University Kengeri campus which was the venue of the Sports Day. All required arrangements were made there. On reaching the campus at 9:00 am, there was short break for tea. Ample seating arrangement and a tent was erected on the vast sporting grounds of the campus. REPORT ON DISPLAY OF TEACHING AIDS - SCHOOL OF EDUCATION

The event that has given the opportunity to the teacher trainees to display and demonstrate their teaching aids and teaching models was conducted on 10 th January,   2014.   The event was inaugurated by Prof. Mallika Krishnaswami, Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences, Christ University. The Dean addressed the student teachers with an inspiring talk. A Report on One Day Exhibition, Workshop and Lecture on Numismatics

Department of History and   Kannada,Christ University in collaboration with Karnataka Numismatics Society , Bangalore organized a one day   exhibition, workshop and lecture on numismatics” on 12 July,2014 in Gourmet extension and Assembly Hall ,Block -2 from 9 am to 3pm. The programme was divided into two slots, exhibition and lecture session. The programme began with an   inauguration of the exhibition in gourmet basement at 9.30 by Mahesh Jambulingam , President , Karnataka Numismatic Society and Dr.John Joseph Kennedy, Dean, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Christ University. Faculty members along with prominent members   from Numismatics Society witnessed the session.     The next slot of the programme was held in Assembly Hall, block 2, from 9.45 am to 11 am. The session was presided by Dr. John Joseph Kennedy where Mahesh Jambulingam's   lecture on   numismatics included origin and preservation of coins, coins of   various dynasties-
