Report on Inauguration of activities of Electronics Club on 7 July 2015

The Activities of the Electronics Club, an association of Electronics (BSc.) students of Christ University, for the Academic year 2015-16 were formally inaugurated on Tuesday, 7 July 2015 with an inaugural address by Prof. E S Dwarakadasa, Retd. Professor of Metallurgy, Indian institute of Science, currently CEO and MD of Karnataka Hybrid Microelectronic Devices (KHMD), Bengaluru.  The inaugural function at Sky View, 10th floor, Central Block, started with an invocation song by Ms. Apeksha, Akanksha and Savita of V semester PME, followed by the welcome speech by Prof. Mukund N Naragund, Teacher Coordinator for the Electronics Club activities.  A brief introduction to the Electronics Club and its activities was given by Prof. Benny Sebastian, Head of the Department of Electronics. Report on Konkurrenz 2015, an inter-class event organised by the students of BBA (Tourism and Travel Management)

Konkurrenz 2015, an inter-class event was organized by the students of BBA (Tourism and Travel Management) under the watchful guidance of the Department of Tourism Studies on Thursday, June 25, 2015.   The event offered a platform for the students to supplement their knowledge on the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Industry. As a part of Konkurrenz 2015, the students participated in various activities such as Just A Minute (JAM), Best Manager, Travel Quiz and Itinerary Preparation, among others that inculcated in them the much needed industry knowledge.     Mr Chirag Jain, Co-Founder, Nirvana Nomads graced the occasion with his presence as the Chief Guest. The event was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Suresh Pai, Associate Dean –Management, Dr Tomy K Kallarakal, Head and Dr Joby Thomas, Coordinator of the Department of Tourism Studies.

The Department of English organised the screened the Visual Text for the first year students doing the English course ENG 131. The sessions were split into three sessions. The first session was held between 8.00 am and 9.30 am for B.Com Professionals, BBA F&A, B.Com Morning, and the second session was held between 10.00 am and 12.00 pm for B.Com R, Hons and BBA and BBA T and the third session between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm for BA and B.Sc students. The text screened was ‘Nero’s Guest’. The visual text is part of the English syllabus and is used in order to help students look at audio-visual selections as text and analyse them accordingly. The screening of the documentary was for one hour followed by a presentation and a panel discussion. Report on Acropolis, a Street Play presented by the MA English Theater Club

‘Acropolis’, the MA English Theater Club presented a Street Play - "Say No to Drugs" on the 8 July 2015 at 4:00 pm in front of the Central Block. The street play began with a loud and attention grabbing howl and the actors emerging from the crowd and forming a circle. Substance abuse and its impact on the youth was the central theme of this play. The duration of the play was 7 minutes. The various consequences of drug abuse like broken families, having a bleak future, bad relationships, society looking down upon addicts and eventually a life surrounded by depression and only depression- were some of the other aspects focused on.
