CHRIST UNIVERSITY TOUR OF MALAYSIA 2013

International Intervarsity Cricket tournament conducted by
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia ( May 15th to May 28th 2013)

This tournament consisted of 8 universities from 8 different countries such as

1    .      Christ University , INDIA
2    .      Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Malaysia
3    .      University of Colombo, Srilanka
4    .      Nanyang technological University, Singapore
5    .      Shenyang Technological University, China
6    .      University of liberal arts, Bangladesh 
7    .      The University of Adelaide, Australia
8    .      Universiti Negara Padang, Indonesia

Christ University was placed in pool A with Bangladesh, China and Malaysia
The tournament was played on the league basis and the top 2 teams from each pool qualified to the semi finals. Christ University was placed 2nd in pool A and had to face the topper of pool B, Srilanka in the semi-final. After winning against Srilanka in the Semifinal, Christ had to play the final against Malaysia.

1st match (19th May 2013)
Christ University  vs.  University of liberal arts,Bangladesh 

Christ University won the toss and chose to bat

 Christ University - 172/9 in 50 overs ( Nihal FS 61 ,Biman 25 ,Prithvi -19)
Bangladesh - 151 allout in 45.2overs  (Surya B 5/43,Biman 2/18,Robert 2/6)

Result - Christ University win by 21 runs

2nd match (21st May 2013)
Christ University vs Shanyong sports University,China

Christ University won the toss and chose to bat

Christ University - 344/1 in 50 overs ( Nihal FS 145*, Eshwar Vemala 122*)
China - 53 allout in 19.3 overs ( Abrar Essa 5/23 , Omkar S.N 2/6)

Christ University win by 291 runs
Man of the Match – Nihal FS

3rd match (22nd May 2013)
Christ University vs UKM ,Malaysia

UkM won the toss and chose to bowl

Christ University 107 all out in 45.3 overs ( Biman 28,Karan 23, Robert - 16)
UKM 108/3  in 20.1 overs ( Abrar Essa 2/24)

UKM win by 7 wickets

Semi Final
4th Match (23rd May 2013)

Christ University vs University of Colombo,Srilanka

Christ University won the toss and chose to bat

Christ University 245/9 in 50 overs ( Karan 69,Eshwar V 33,Nihal FS 75,Abrar Essa 24*)
Sri Lanka 162 all out in 38.5 overs ( Eshwar V 3/16,Robert 2/10,Biman 2/40)

Christ University win by 83 runs and qualified for the finals

Final
Match 5 (25th May 2013)

Christ University vs UKM ,Malaysia

UkM won the toss and chose to bowl

Christ University 160 all out in 50 overs ( Eshwar Vemala 29, Nihal FS 55,Robert -16)
UKM 161/5 in 38.4 overs ( Surya B 2/45,Omkar S.N 2/23)

UKM won the match by 5 wickets and won the tournament.

Report on Annual Sports Day 2013 School of Education organized a one day Sports day for its students of B.Ed and MA Education on the 16 th of February 2013. Its objective was to develop in the students a sporting spirit, a venue to display their physical prowess and gain hands on experience of organizing a sports day at a school in future.   The day was scheduled to begin at 7:30am at the Christ University campus, where the students assembled near the auditorium block. Two buses were utilized to transport the students to the Christ University Kengeri campus which was the venue of the Sports Day. All required arrangements were made there. On reaching the campus at 9:00 am, there was short break for tea. Ample seating arrangement and a tent was erected on the vast sporting grounds of the campus. REPORT ON DISPLAY OF TEACHING AIDS - SCHOOL OF EDUCATION

The event that has given the opportunity to the teacher trainees to display and demonstrate their teaching aids and teaching models was conducted on 10 th January,   2014.   The event was inaugurated by Prof. Mallika Krishnaswami, Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences, Christ University. The Dean addressed the student teachers with an inspiring talk. Ma’m spoke about the way the School of Education showcases their creativity, talent which is inspiring year after year.   Every year, teaching becomes more challenging with the students becoming more restless and energetic.   So, it is quite a bit challenging for the teaching fraternity to grab their attention.   With technology growing exponentially and information being easily accessible for the students, dependency on class room teaching is reducing.   But the emotional connection between teachers and students cannot be replaced with technology.   With teachers being committed and profession...

A Report on One Day Exhibition, Workshop and Lecture on Numismatics

Department of History and   Kannada,Christ University in collaboration with Karnataka Numismatics Society , Bangalore organized a one day   exhibition, workshop and lecture on numismatics” on 12 July,2014 in Gourmet extension and Assembly Hall ,Block -2 from 9 am to 3pm. The programme was divided into two slots, exhibition and lecture session. The programme began with an   inauguration of the exhibition in gourmet basement at 9.30 by Mahesh Jambulingam , President , Karnataka Numismatic Society and Dr.John Joseph Kennedy, Dean, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Christ University.
