REPORT ON THE INAUGURATION OF BIOTECHNOLOGY ASSOCIATION”

“Every journey has to have a great start, and only then will it have a good sail and a great ending…”

The inauguration of Biotechnology Association was also one such event, that marked the advent of a journey, which will span throughout the year, to facilitate all the events of the Department of Biotechnology and help the students have an enriching learning experience. As part of the activities of the academic year 2013-14, the Department of Biotechnology formally inaugurated their Biotechnology Association, chaired by Prof. Vasantha V. L –the President of the Association. Saranya Jayaram of III BSc BCZ was elected as Vice President and K. Karthik of III BSc BCB was elected as Secretary. 

Along with these members, the other core members of the Association were also officially announced. This formal inauguration of the Association was also a wonderful opportunity to put forth an interesting talk on the subject, which could captivate the students and could open avenues for their further studies. Dr. Ravi Nayyar – Dean, HCG Hospitals, Bangalore inaugurated the Association. 

The Dean of Sciences, Prof Nanjegowda and the Associate Dean of Sciences Prof Louis George were graced the occasion. Dr. Ravi Nayyar, an exemplary orator delivered an effective talk on “The General Science of Oncology”. This talk was motivating and helped channelize the young minds into the direction of Research. All in all, the Inauguration of the Biotechnology Association was a well organised event, which fuelled the young minds to journey through a year that is eventful and enriching.

Report on Annual Sports Day 2013 School of Education organized a one day Sports day for its students of B.Ed and MA Education on the 16 th of February 2013. Its objective was to develop in the students a sporting spirit, a venue to display their physical prowess and gain hands on experience of organizing a sports day at a school in future.   The day was scheduled to begin at 7:30am at the Christ University campus, where the students assembled near the auditorium block. Two buses were utilized to transport the students to the Christ University Kengeri campus which was the venue of the Sports Day. All required arrangements were made there. On reaching the campus at 9:00 am, there was short break for tea. Ample seating arrangement and a tent was erected on the vast sporting grounds of the campus. REPORT ON DISPLAY OF TEACHING AIDS - SCHOOL OF EDUCATION

The event that has given the opportunity to the teacher trainees to display and demonstrate their teaching aids and teaching models was conducted on 10 th January,   2014.   The event was inaugurated by Prof. Mallika Krishnaswami, Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences, Christ University. The Dean addressed the student teachers with an inspiring talk. Ma’m spoke about the way the School of Education showcases their creativity, talent which is inspiring year after year.   Every year, teaching becomes more challenging with the students becoming more restless and energetic.   So, it is quite a bit challenging for the teaching fraternity to grab their attention.   With technology growing exponentially and information being easily accessible for the students, dependency on class room teaching is reducing.   But the emotional connection between teachers and students cannot be replaced with technology.   With teachers being committed and profession...

A Report on One Day Exhibition, Workshop and Lecture on Numismatics

Department of History and   Kannada,Christ University in collaboration with Karnataka Numismatics Society , Bangalore organized a one day   exhibition, workshop and lecture on numismatics” on 12 July,2014 in Gourmet extension and Assembly Hall ,Block -2 from 9 am to 3pm. The programme was divided into two slots, exhibition and lecture session. The programme began with an   inauguration of the exhibition in gourmet basement at 9.30 by Mahesh Jambulingam , President , Karnataka Numismatic Society and Dr.John Joseph Kennedy, Dean, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Christ University.
