Report on Foreign Faculty Guest Lecture by Dr Michael Taylor
The department of Life Sciences had organized a
foreign faculty guest lecture by Dr Michael Taylor, Professor, Proton therapy,
University of Manchester, UK and the CHRISTIE NHS Foundation Trust on February
3, 2020. The venue was the Room No. 105, Central Block, Central Campus, CHRIST
(Deemed to be University). Dr Taylor is currently a STEM Ambassador for
covering the Great Manchester, Cheshire and Merseyside regions. The welcome
address was delivered by Aman Sharma, Secretary of Life Science Association.
This was followed by the delivery of the lecture “Radiotherapy
for Cancer Treatment; Clinical Viewpoints” by Dr Taylor. The talk mainly focused
on radiation detection and measurement in a bid to improve proton beam therapy
in health and medicine domains to treat cancer. The vote of thanks was given by
Krishna Iyer, 6BCZ. Dr Suma S, Associate Professor, Dept of Life Sciences gave
a memento to Prof Taylor as a token of appreciation. The students actively
engaged in a query session after the talk.
