REPORT

Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, organized a programme“ Academia Industry Conclave” on the occasion of inauguration of Mechanical Association of Christites-a Mechanical student association

The function started at 9.15 am with a Promo video on Department, followed by Lighting of Lamp and welcome speech.  New office bearers were announced and various activities conducted under the association were reported with a mention on future plans.

1. Dr. A L SHASHI MOHAN, Dr R.N.DAS, Chief, Corporate R&D, BHEL, Bangalore -was the chief guest and delivered the Invited Talk on Industry Institution Interactions-need and challenges.

“Academia Industry Conclave” started from 11.15pm with three speakers delivering their lectures.

2. Dr SATISH VASU KAILAS, Professor Mechanical Engineering, IISc Bangalore

3. Dr R.KRISHNAN, Chief Advisor, Center for Science and Technology Education Policy (C-STEP)-Bangalore

4. Dr R.N.DAS, Chief, Corporate R&D, BHEL, Bangalore

All students and faculty attended the programme which ended at 1.15 pm.

Department of History and   Kannada,Christ University in collaboration with Karnataka Numismatics Society , Bangalore organized a one day   exhibition, workshop and lecture on numismatics” on 12 July,2014 in Gourmet extension and Assembly Hall ,Block -2 from 9 am to 3pm. The programme was divided into two slots, exhibition and lecture session. The programme began with an   inauguration of the exhibition in gourmet basement at 9.30 by Mahesh Jambulingam , President , Karnataka Numismatic Society and Dr.John Joseph Kennedy, Dean, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Christ University. Report on Annual Sports Day 2013 - SCHOOL OF EDUCATION

Report on Annual Sports Day 2013 School of Education organized a one day Sports day for its students of B.Ed and MA Education on the 16 th of February 2013. Its objective was to develop in the students a sporting spirit, a venue to display their physical prowess and gain hands on experience of organizing a sports day at a school in future.   The day was scheduled to begin at 7:30am at the Christ University campus, where the students assembled near the auditorium block. Two buses were utilized to transport the students to the Christ University Kengeri campus which was the venue of the Sports Day. All required arrangements were made there. On reaching the campus at 9:00 am, there was short break for tea. Ample seating arrangement and a tent was erected on the vast sporting grounds of the campus. REPORT ON DISPLAY OF TEACHING AIDS - SCHOOL OF EDUCATION

The event that has given the opportunity to the teacher trainees to display and demonstrate their teaching aids and teaching models was conducted on 10 th January,   2014.   The event was inaugurated by Prof. Mallika Krishnaswami, Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences, Christ University. The Dean addressed the student teachers with an inspiring talk. Ma’m spoke about the way the School of Education showcases their creativity, talent which is inspiring year after year.   Every year, teaching becomes more challenging with the students becoming more restless and energetic.   So, it is quite a bit challenging for the teaching fraternity to grab their attention.   With technology growing exponentially and information being easily accessible for the students, dependency on class room teaching is reducing.   But the emotional connection between teachers and students cannot be replaced with technology.   With teachers being committed and professional to what they do, overall develo
