INAUGURATION OF TOURISM ASSOCIATION & KONKURRENZ 2013

The Tourism Association Activities & Konkurrenz 2013 was inaugurated on 10 July 15, 2013 at Campus View, 10th floor, Central Block. The initiative is an inter class event held by the Department of Tourism Studies to develop the overall personality and communication skills of the students. The activities are used as a platform to instill confidence in the students, explore their latent talents and mould them into professionals, most apt for the hospitality industry.

The Chief Guest, Ms Anita Raja, Regional Manager, Royal Caribbean Cruises, Bangalore gave an insight into her work experience in the field of tourism for close to twenty years. Mr Dennison Joseph, the Guest of Honor is currently working with Thomas Cook as Manager, MICE. Mr Dennison, an alumnus of Christ University and the president of the Tourism Studies Alumni Chapter was also the Brain behind initiating Konkurrenz during his student days.

As part of the function, the list of activities to be organized in all classes was presented by Ms Sanjana and Mr Arjun from BComT and by Mr Madhusudhan from MTA. A quiz & ‘surprise’ skits were also organized by the students.

Report on Annual Sports Day 2013 School of Education organized a one day Sports day for its students of B.Ed and MA Education on the 16 th of February 2013. Its objective was to develop in the students a sporting spirit, a venue to display their physical prowess and gain hands on experience of organizing a sports day at a school in future.   The day was scheduled to begin at 7:30am at the Christ University campus, where the students assembled near the auditorium block. Two buses were utilized to transport the students to the Christ University Kengeri campus which was the venue of the Sports Day. All required arrangements were made there. On reaching the campus at 9:00 am, there was short break for tea. Ample seating arrangement and a tent was erected on the vast sporting grounds of the campus. REPORT ON DISPLAY OF TEACHING AIDS - SCHOOL OF EDUCATION

The event that has given the opportunity to the teacher trainees to display and demonstrate their teaching aids and teaching models was conducted on 10 th January,   2014.   The event was inaugurated by Prof. Mallika Krishnaswami, Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences, Christ University. The Dean addressed the student teachers with an inspiring talk. Ma’m spoke about the way the School of Education showcases their creativity, talent which is inspiring year after year.   Every year, teaching becomes more challenging with the students becoming more restless and energetic.   So, it is quite a bit challenging for the teaching fraternity to grab their attention.   With technology growing exponentially and information being easily accessible for the students, dependency on class room teaching is reducing.   But the emotional connection between teachers and students cannot be replaced with technology.   With teachers being committed and profession...

CHRIST University Collaborates with Freethought for Kannada LLM Development

On 12 August 2024, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) signed an MOU with Freethought Foundation and Freethought Labs (OPC) Pvt Ltd for Phase I towards developing a high-quality large language model (LLM) in Kannada. This project will be hosted by the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Languages as a contribution to Karnataka and Kannada. The outcomes of the project will be Free and Open Source (FOSS) to encourage innovation and collaboration.
