Report on Guest Lecture by Foreign Faculty organized by Biotechnology Association

The Biotechnology Association of Christ University had organized a guest lecture by an eminent scientist from University College, Cork, Ireland on 12.11.2014 in Room No.911 in the Central Block of Christ University Main Campus. Prof. Justin V McCarthy, Director of Biotechnology, University of Cork (UCC) gave a wonderful talk on the topic “Altering the genetic blueprint: Pharming for Farmaceuticals”.   

He also gave the students an insight into the various opportunities for higher studies at UCC campus.

 
 
 
There was meeting of the faculty of Biotechnology (Dr Suma S, Dr Biljo V Joseph and Ms Vasantha V L) and Deans of Science (Dr Nanjegowda N M and Dr Louis George) with Prof. Justin V McCarthy and Prof Kellie Dean from University of Cork, Ireland regarding syllabus and opportunities for higher studies. 

The discussion centred around possibilities of student and faculty exchange for research purposes between UCC and Christ University. Overall it was a very enriching experience.

Department of History and   Kannada,Christ University in collaboration with Karnataka Numismatics Society , Bangalore organized a one day   exhibition, workshop and lecture on numismatics” on 12 July,2014 in Gourmet extension and Assembly Hall ,Block -2 from 9 am to 3pm. The programme was divided into two slots, exhibition and lecture session. The programme began with an   inauguration of the exhibition in gourmet basement at 9.30 by Mahesh Jambulingam , President , Karnataka Numismatic Society and Dr.John Joseph Kennedy, Dean, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Christ University. Faculty members along with prominent members   from Numismatics Society witnessed the session.     The next slot of the programme was held in Assembly Hall, block 2, from 9.45 am to 11 am. The session was presided by Dr. John Joseph Kennedy where Mahesh Jambulingam's   lecture on   numismatics included origin and preservation of coins, coins of   various dynasties-

Report on Annual Sports Day 2013 - SCHOOL OF EDUCATION

Report on Annual Sports Day 2013 School of Education organized a one day Sports day for its students of B.Ed and MA Education on the 16 th of February 2013. Its objective was to develop in the students a sporting spirit, a venue to display their physical prowess and gain hands on experience of organizing a sports day at a school in future.   The day was scheduled to begin at 7:30am at the Christ University campus, where the students assembled near the auditorium block. Two buses were utilized to transport the students to the Christ University Kengeri campus which was the venue of the Sports Day. All required arrangements were made there. On reaching the campus at 9:00 am, there was short break for tea. Ample seating arrangement and a tent was erected on the vast sporting grounds of the campus. REPORT ON DISPLAY OF TEACHING AIDS - SCHOOL OF EDUCATION

The event that has given the opportunity to the teacher trainees to display and demonstrate their teaching aids and teaching models was conducted on 10 th January,   2014.   The event was inaugurated by Prof. Mallika Krishnaswami, Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences, Christ University. The Dean addressed the student teachers with an inspiring talk. Ma’m spoke about the way the School of Education showcases their creativity, talent which is inspiring year after year.   Every year, teaching becomes more challenging with the students becoming more restless and energetic.   So, it is quite a bit challenging for the teaching fraternity to grab their attention.   With technology growing exponentially and information being easily accessible for the students, dependency on class room teaching is reducing.   But the emotional connection between teachers and students cannot be replaced with technology.   With teachers being committed and professional to what they do, overall develo
