REPORT ON BIOGALA 2019, WORKSHOP and INTERCOLLEGIATE FEST ORGANIZED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF LIFE SCIENCES ON JANUARY 21, 22, 2019.

‘Biogala’, a celebration of life, was organized by the Department of Life Sciences, to mark the Golden Jubilee celebration of CHRIST (Deemed to be University). The theme of the Workshop on Day 1 was RECENT TRENDS IN LIFE SCIENCES. The second day was allotted for the Intercollegiate competitions.  The Coordinator of the 2 day event was Prof. Vasantha V L. The event started with an inaugural ceremony which was graced by the presence of Fr. Dr. Col. Thomas C. Mathew, Vice Chancellor, Fr. Jobi Xavier Chief Finance Officer and Head of the department of LifeSciences, faculty members and students of the department. The inaugural address was given by the Chief Guest, Dr. Chenna Reddy Aswath. Senior Scientist, Indian Institute of Horticultural research, Bengaluru.
Day 1 of Biogala comprised of talks by various renowned speakers from distinguished institutes. The first speaker of the session was Dr. Chenna Reddy Aswath from Indian Institute of Horticultural research (Bengaluru),  followed by Dr. Seetha Krishnan from Syngene, Dr. Abhraham Verghese from ICAR-NBAIR, Mr. Vibhava Shukla from Biocon and Dr. Senthil Kumar Radhakrishnan from GPS Institute of Agricultural management. After the lecture series Poster presentation was conducted. The day ended with a valedictory session during which the winners of the poster presentation were announced.
The inter-collegiate fest was held on day 2 of Biogala. There were various colleges from Bangalore and outside Bangalore participating in various events with a total of 110 students. Events for the day included- Quiz, Treasure Hunt, Marketing Genius, Flower arrangement, Sketching, JAM and True Detective. After the end of all the events, cultural celebrations were held. The valedictory session was held for the distribution of prizes and certificates.
