Panel Discussion - The Department of Commerce

The Department of Commerce organises Panel Discussion ever year for its M COM programme. It is a forum opened for intensive discussion and dialogue on current affairs and business with a core objective to educate the student community and keep them abreast with the current happenings in the commerce world. The sessions are highly interactive with industrial experts present to enrich student’s learning. The topics that are selected add an important dimension to the curriculum.

This year, the discussion was focused on the topic “Licencing of new banks and its impact on the Economy”. Mr. Suresh Pai, (Former Executive Vice President of IndusInd Bank) was the Moderator of the discussion and Mr. H. Vasanth Rai, (Former Workmen Director, Canara Bank),  Ms. Swathi S.M (General Manager, Corporation Bank), Mr.Shrikanth Rao (Associate Professor, CUIM) and Mr. T.S Ramachandran (Associate Professor, CUIM) were the distinguished panelists.

Together, they gave the students a comprehensive idea of both the positive and negative effects of RBI’s decision of providing licences to new players in the banking sector. The discussion was scheduled on 24th August 2013, Saturday from 11. 00 am onwards.

Report on Annual Sports Day 2013 School of Education organized a one day Sports day for its students of B.Ed and MA Education on the 16 th of February 2013. Its objective was to develop in the students a sporting spirit, a venue to display their physical prowess and gain hands on experience of organizing a sports day at a school in future.   The day was scheduled to begin at 7:30am at the Christ University campus, where the students assembled near the auditorium block. Two buses were utilized to transport the students to the Christ University Kengeri campus which was the venue of the Sports Day. All required arrangements were made there. REPORT ON DISPLAY OF TEACHING AIDS - SCHOOL OF EDUCATION

The event that has given the opportunity to the teacher trainees to display and demonstrate their teaching aids and teaching models was conducted on 10 th January,   2014.   The event was inaugurated by Prof. Mallika Krishnaswami, Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences, Christ University. The Dean addressed the student teachers with an inspiring talk. Ma’m spoke about the way the School of Education showcases their creativity, talent which is inspiring year after year.   Every year, teaching becomes more challenging with the students becoming more restless and energetic.   So, it is quite a bit challenging for the teaching fraternity to grab their attention.   With technology growing exponentially and information being easily accessible for the students, dependency on class room teaching is reducing.   But the emotional connection between teachers and students cannot be replaced with technology.   With teachers being committed and profession...

CHRIST University Collaborates with Freethought for Kannada LLM Development

On 12 August 2024, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) signed an MOU with Freethought Foundation and Freethought Labs (OPC) Pvt Ltd for Phase I towards developing a high-quality large language model (LLM) in Kannada. This project will be hosted by the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Languages as a contribution to Karnataka and Kannada. The outcomes of the project will be Free and Open Source (FOSS) to encourage innovation and collaboration.
