Visit to Leprosy Care Center at Summanahalli, Department of Computer Science and Engineering & Information Technology

Faculty members from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Information Technology visited a leprosy care center at Summanahalli, on the 30th of November, 2014. They were also accompanied by 20 student volunteers from the department.

The delegation was first allowed to interact with the members of the community, and this was followed by a tour of the facility. The faculty members and students visited a candle making unit, one of the many units where the residents of Summanahalli worked to prepare products that would be sold for their welfare.

After spending a few more minutes interacting with the residents, the delegation then proceeded to serve them with lunch purchased from the donations of the students and faculty of the CSE/IT department.

The residents seemed to enjoy the company of the faculty and students, and was pleased by their visit.

The delegation was truly moved and humbled by the experience, and looks forward to more such opportunities to serve social causes.
